Noah's Story

Noah is a college student at the University of Cincinnati majoring in Industrial Design. He enjoys enjoys anything hands on like 

3D printing, electronics and tinkering as a whole. He is currently very invested in drone racing and is extremely active within the community. He has recently been promoted to race director of "Cincinnati Quad Racers" following his win at the Tiny Whoop International Open. Noah has even attracted the attention of sponsors. and is now being sponsored by "HQ Props".

As a hobbiest Noah has mastered building and repairing all sorts of drones. From building his own to repairing consumer focused multirotors. In our conversation we spoke about the most important characteristics of racing drones and consumer grade drones. Those being Durability, Weight and Reliability.

As an expert in the field Noah explained many of the problems and frustrations that come with conventional consumer grade drone products. These being software bugs leading to inconsistent flight operation, durability, and especially repairs. Even as an experienced consumer in the drone racing world even he has found repairs on these products to be challenging. He explained that he had replaced various parts on DJI Mavics and that it was a "scary process". He explained in detail that "One swipe of your soldering iron can take you out".

Emily's Story

Emily is a college student at the University of Mount Union majoring in Bio Medical Engineering. She enjoys hunting, hiking, and exploring the outdoors. She also enjoys photography and even uses her photography skills for freelance work.

Emily has former experience with multirotors. More specifically she has used and had to repair her DJI Air 2s. In our interview she explained that she uses it for aerial photography and videography and enjoys the user experience when everything is working correctly.

 

Then she expanded on the things she did not like. How seemingly delicate and flimsy it is. She also explained how much she disliked replacing the arm that had broken. Disassembling the entire body, Intricate, hard to find parts, and tiny solder joints became a pain.
